Everyone Must Play a Part - Schauspiel als Weg zu persönlicher und professioneller Weiterentwicklung

Content

SKILLS COME FROM ART (key competencies & future skills)
Art encourages us to seek our own perspective on what we hear, see, experience and learn.

Oskar Negt calls this ‘Eigen-Sinn’ – developing your own attitude and self-confidence from artistic uncertainty.
Seen in this light, art does not come from skill, but skill comes from art. Theatre strengthens skills in comprehension and questioning, in social interaction, in self-reflection, in curiosity and in self-confidence.

In this module, you will strengthen your self-confidence, your courage and your ability to work in a team. You will learn to use your voice and body language in a targeted manner and to implement creative projects together with others. Theatre stimulates your creativity and challenges you to design content and productions.

1. Joy of acting and enthusiasm for acting – (concentration and coordination games, improvisation games)

2. Voice and presence – (own character – own/appropriated text)

3. Sensitivity and trust – (giving and accepting impulses, group feeling –
responsibility)

4. Aesthetics, perceiving, recognising and designing implementation (developing mini dramas)

5. Performance/presentation of the scenic work

Target group

Students of HSB

Language of instruction: German and English

Goal

The module promotes the development of self-confidence, creativity and teamwork skills through practical acting training. Students expand their presentation skills, strengthen their emotional intelligence and reflect on their personal and cognitive abilities in the creative process.

Method

The module combines practical acting techniques with theoretical reflections. It includes group exercises, improvisations, scene work and role-playing, accompanied by regular feedback sessions and discussions. Attendance is compulsory for this module.

Examination
The examination consists of two parts:

A practical presentation (10 June 2026) of the results achieved and an accompanying portfolio.
The form of the presentation will be developed jointly during the module – it can take the form of a play, film, lecture or other creative format. The exact form will be determined during the semester.
In addition, written answers to reflection questions are required. These questions are intended to document and reflect on your individual development and learning processes.
